Men's Fashion Week in Europe: Fall/Winter 2014

Fashion Week in Europe: Fall/Winter 2014
Jan 30, 2014|William Richardson

I'm aiming to be on an international scale. So it’s only right that I incorporate fashions from across the globe, starting with Europe Fashion Week. In my opinion, European fashion shows always seems to be more daring and creative compared to fashion shows here in the states and this year just proved my theory to be right. The models strutted the catwalk throughout the streets of Europe; covering London, Milan, and Paris. This season introduced the best and most imaginative fashion trends to date; from clean lines, to psychedelic patterns, vibrant colors, and untraditional silhouettes. In a nutshell, I would say many of these collections were brought to life and fantasies became a reality.

Below are some of my favorite looks from Europe Fashion Week 2014.

[Dolce and Gabbana FW 2014| Milano Fashion Week]

Dolce and Gabbana was inspired by the 15th century medieval times with this collection. They reveal rich and luxurious color patterns, chunky overcoats, clean-cut suits, and embellished head garb with a sophisticated edge. These staples will continue to keep Dolce and Gabbana a force to be reckoned with in the fashion arena and dominant amongst their competitors.

[Kenzo FW 2014| Milano Fashion Week]

Kenzo never ceases to amaze me by embracing impeccable tailoring, cool prints, and unique designs. In this line they show us that you can integrate spring colors to your fall and winter wardrobe; such as sky blues, neons, and neutral accents and still get away with it when done right. Kenzo effortlessly illustrates elegance at its best with a twist of high fashion detail.

[Fendi FW 2014|Milano Fashion Week]

Fendi delivers true gentlemen’s elegance with a touch of charm. This collection shows that Fendi is perhaps one of the only brands that have the capability to produce ready-to-wear sophisticated clothes with an audacious appeal. Coverings of fur on coats and sweaters paired with tailored trousers, asymmetrical zippers, and leather details. The luxury is manifested and represents the style of a metropolitan man.

[John Galliano FW 14| Paris Fashion Week]

John Galliano took a super cool yet risqué approach in this collection. For fall/winter 2014, designer Bill Gaytten integrated geometric leggings, shrunken jackets, high-low silhouettes, and bright color contrast to deliver a visual masterpiece. It looks like we may be seeing more men wearing colors this upcoming fall and winter season.

[Thom Browne FW 14| Paris Fashion Week]

Thom Browne literally brings the phrase, “there’s an elephant in the room” to life. I admire how Browne used the juxtaposition of impractical headwear paired with custom suits and oversized garments. Browne created an animalistic and dark concept and brought it to life in his collection where Prince of Wales, tweeds, and herringbones were some of the patterns of choice. Either you love it or hate it but you at least have to tip off your “hat” to Browne for going against the grain.

I look forward to see if Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City can withstand the competition of Paris and Milan. In about two weeks this shall be determined and we will hopefully be amazed of what those shows will have to offer!

Beyonce Surprise New Album Beyonce Stuns With New Album Drop

These are a few stills of Beyoncé's new self titled visual album, Beyoncé. This album is nothing short of amazing. The imagery, colors, fashion, dramatic effects, juxtaposition, and rawness of these videos bring life to each song. These video's were Beyoncé's own interpretation and vision of how each song were perceived from her own mind. The songs target more of an adult audience reflecting love, sex, beauty, and living life and are truly inspiring.
